BTC #20 – The Golden Rule: He Who Controls the Gold, Makes the Rules

KingGoldThat old saying, “The golden rule is that he who controls the gold makes the rules”, is no joke.  For as long as money has been around, those who control it have had immense power.   I think everyone is aware of the massive influence those with money can have over our individual politicians by funding their campaigns.  The mystery lies behind the fact that most people believe the government itself is the sole entity with control over this county’s economy and money supply.

I’ve spent a ton of time over the past month and a half researching some pretty important things which we weren’t taught in school, about how money works in our society, about how the banking industry really works, about monetary policy, about economics, about the battle over currency in our nations history, and about who controls it today.  In this “part two” of a three episode series on voting and governmental control, I’m going to share a summary of the most important findings that I can fit into this show and still keep it entertaining.  This “must listen” show is packed with things we we were never taught, but really should know.

BTC #19 – The Game is Rigged: Why I Quit Voting.

VoteForPedroNo matter who becomes president in the next election, they will not change your life. Only you have the power to do that.”

Today I’m going to talk about my thoughts on “voting” and why I think it is designed to placate and control us, while only giving us the illusion that we have any control.  We are also going to talk about the election process and the many ways it is rigged from the start to take control away from the general population.  We are going to talk about the role the media plays in deciding elections and turning our population against one another.  We are going to talk about straight up rampant cheating.  And finally we are going to talk about why it doesn’t matter who gets in office anyway.  Even if you don’t agree with my stances on issues in this podcast, you should find it entertaining and informative.

BTC #18 – You’re 18. You’ve graduated. Now what?

Grad PicThis can be an incredibly stressful time in the lives of our youth… when they graduate high school, turn 18, and are suddenly expected to make a choice of what they want to do for the rest of their lives.  Many have absolutely no idea what they want to do and yet feel forced to make a choice “right now”.  Others still, may be really conflicted because the mold society had set out for them doesn’t fit who they are.  It’s no wonder that suicide is the third leading cause of death among our youth.

Today we are going to talk to four incredible people who are all facing this leap together, my daughter and three of her best friends.   They have formed an amazing friendship over the years and yet couldn’t come from any more different backgrounds when it comes to their schooling.  We are going to talk about their thoughts on the school system, social programming, massive pressures at this point in life, and what parents do that can either alleviate this stress or increase it.

BTC #17 – Challenges I’ve Faced: Get Comfortable Being Uncomfortable

Main RepairThis episode was inspired by an email I received from a Water Sifu listener who was having a hard time with their first few days on the job.  It got me thinking about the challenges we receive every day, which are all fantastic learning experiences, and how important it is to allow ourselves to step out of our comfort zones to meet them head on.  In this episode I share some stories of my own personal hardships and challenges which I have had to face , both within the water industry and life in general.

BTC #16 – Plug Into Nature: Hiking Yosemite’s Mist Trail to Vernal Falls

Vernal Falls HikeOur lives have become so wrapped up in our screens.  Computers have become our workstations.  Phones have become our “go to” place for answers to anything we want to know, and also our “go to” place to tune out whenever we are bored or stressed.  Video games have become totally addictive to so many people.  TV steals so much of our time, and eating in front of the TV has almost totally replaced family dinners around a table.

I have been going through nature withdrawals lately, and yesterday I really needed to get away, so I went for a drive to Yosemite National Park, and hiked the Mist Trail to Vernal Falls.  I really felt called to do this trip, partially to re-energize my batteries and partially to challenge a fear within me.   My legs are totally sore today, but it was an incredible journey and left me with many awesome memories.  Today we are going to talk about the importance of getting away from our screens and into nature, and then I’m going to take you with me on my journey into Yosemite, and on to Vernal Falls.

BTC #15 – Limiting Beliefs: Breaking Free of the Mold and Finding Our Happiness

breaking chainsIn “Social Programming”, we discussed the machine that brainwashes us from birth and attempts to transform us into becoming social robots or “human resources”.  In this show, which is kind of like a Social Programming Part 2, I want to talk about the end result of that programming, a mind full of limiting beliefs about who we are, what we are capable of, and what we should expect from our lives, a mind that tells us it’s normal to be unhappy, and a mind that stops us from taking steps towards happiness even when our inner voice is screaming at us to take action.

Some of the topics covered include my thoughts on religion and finding happiness, breaking the mold of society, limiting beliefs surrounding money, employment, and  success, and having the courage to make a change.

BTC #14 – Ultimate Kauai Guidebook Author, Andrew Doughty

Kauai Revealed 2Today I am totally honored to bring you the author of the Ultimate Guidebook Series, Andrew Doughty, in a rare and completely candid interview.  Andrew has created four truly amazing guidebooks, often referred to by travelers as the “Blue Bibles”, and for good reason… His series of travel guidebooks are by far the most popular on the islands, and are also some of the most popular travel books in the world.

I couldn’t think of a better success story for this show.  Andy started with nothing but a desire to live a dream and make a life in Hawaii.  With no experience writing travel books, no publishing skills, no map-making skills, no money, and only basic computer skills, he was able to turn that dream into reality through hard work, dedication, and a desire to put his readers first.

In this “can’t miss” episode, we discuss his background, the making of his first book, how he found so many of his hidden gems, some of the problems that can arise with massive success, and many other aspects of his books and these islands.

Andrew’s official website also contains a goldmine of information for anyone looking to book a hotel or condo on the island, you can find it at the following link:

BTC #12 – Stop It

Stop SignIt’s amazing some of the places that you can learn lessons from, and in the past few months I’ve learned some very valuable lessons from some very unlikey sources… From the HBO series “Game of Thrones”, from 7th grade girls volleyball, and from Muslims.  In this episode I discuss how each of them have taught me to be a better person in their own way, and how divine intervention set me back upon the proper path when I wandered off it and began to get lost.  In 62 podcasts that I’ve created on three different subjects, this show is hands down the most meaningful to me.

BTC #11 – Passive Income Through Real Estate Investing

Real Estate 2This episode is part one of a two part series focusing on ways to further your enjoyment of life by earning passive income.  In this portion we talk about earning passive income through real estate investing.  Anyone remotely interested in the subject should find a lot of value in this show.  I draw from my long time interest, as well as my experience purchasing and rehabbing seven homes over the past year for the purposes of keeping as rentals, in Jacksonville, Florida.  Then we have a talk with a friend of mine, Erik Korondy, who has been killing it as a new investor flipping homes.

This episode lays a good foundation for anyone interested in the subject, and approaches it from a real point of view, not one of someone trying to promote the dream to sell a product.  We discuss three popular real estate strategies (Wholesaling, Flipping, and Buy and Hold) and my thoughts on the best way to get into this business.  We also discuss in detail the pros and cons of “buy and hold”, as well as many ways of acquiring distressed properties which can be fixed up for profit.

BTC #10 – Social Programming

social programming 1If you were not born rich, you have been programmed your entire life to stay that way.  You have been born and indoctrinated into a system carefully designed to help you grow into a highly taxed worker bee, who doesn’t question authority, and who will sacrifice his or her entire life so that others in higher postions may succeed.  It started when you were just a child, and continues today with propaganda that surrounds you every waking moment.

We are going to talk about that system today, and how my journey of learning and thought has taken me on an incredible ride into understanding just how these thoguhts are driven into us all.  In this episode of Breaking the Chains we discuss many of the ways in which we are programmed from an early age to accept a life of mediocracy.  We discuss the origins and purpose of schooling, mental programming through the constant influx of messages we receive every day, fears which hamper our drive, the timewasters which distract us, and many other things.

BTC #9 – New Beginnings

New BeginningsIt has been about 4 1/2 years since the last episode of Breaking the Chains…. Wow!  Life has taken me so many crazy places since then, but through it all this shows  importance to me has always been there.  I just couldn’t come back until I was ready to dedicate myself to putting on regular shows going forward,  and life has put me into a position where I can finally do that.  In this comeback episode of Breaking the Chains we discuss all the things that have gone on in my life since the last show, and then discuss where we will be heading going forward.

BTC #8 – Living a Black Belt Life

BB Life 1This week I’m bringing you an interview with Joe Meyer, black belt instructor, and probably the most influential person to ever enter my life.  Left alone in the world to fend for himself at twelve years old, Joe managed to not only survive, but thrive, both economically and spiritually.  His positive outlook and views on life are a must listen for everyone.  We sit down and discuss martial arts – which changed both of our lives drastically, what it means to be a “black belt”, and his view of business and life in general.

BTC #7 – Wiccans, Witches and Pagans

Bernadette 2I remember being in first grade and thinking a witch lived in the woods surrounding a creek by my house.  We were afraid to go anywhere near there.  Why was I afraid of a witch?  I’d never met a witch, never been attacked by a witch, never even known someone who knew someone who was cursed by a witch… so why was I afraid of a witch.  Because Id been trained to be afraid, that’s why….. by years of movies, cartoons, books and tv shows, and by other religions which claimed they were evil and worshiped the devil.  As I’ve grown into the person I am today, I’ve learned to think for myself, with an open mind, and I’ve learned that not everything in life is as we are told, and that there are motives behind many of the things we are sold.  If you’ve been raised to think that Wiccans and Witches are evil and that they worship the devil, if you still think like I used to… then you’ve got an eye opening show ahead of you.

This week I was extremely fortunate to get an interview with Bernadette Montana, a very well known witch within the Pagan community.  We discuss the Wiccan religion in a conversation that is very enlightening, while putting to rest many common misconceptions

BTC #6 – Sexy Time!

sexy timeFeeling attractive can impact so many areas of your life in a positive manner, and feeling unattractive can do just the opposite.   This week we ask the question the question, “What is sexy?”, discussing how commercial media tries to make us feel unattractive, in an attempt to sell their products, and how each of us has within us the potential to be extremely sexy.

I also discuss my thoughts on diet, exercise, and joining a gym…. drawing on my experience to help you avoid common fears and pitfalls of getting started on a workout program.

BTC #4 – Young, Gay, Out, and Happy

RyanFor some people, being gay can feel like a curse.  Many people like this desperately want to live life as the person they were born, but fear “coming out” due to backlash and ridicule.  For those who are unable to come to terms with their sexuality, who are afraid to allow themselves to live the live the life they want to live, it can lead into a spiral of depression and self-hate.  Suicide is one of the most common causes of death among teenagers, and gay teenagers are four times more likely to commit suicide.

This week we have an awesome interview with three people who are “young, gay, out, and happy” discussing what it’s like to be gay and out today.  Their open candor and honesty in discussing their feelings of being gay, coming out, and overcoming opposition (both inside and out) make this a must listen to podcast for both gays and straights alike.

BTC #3 – “Married Sex”

married sexThe phrase “married sex” has been used to describe sex that is boring, dull, and uneventful.  I think it should mean the exact opposite.  In this episode I introduce my friend Lance, and we have a discussion not only about the phrase “married sex”, but about married sex in general, discussing how a married sex life can go awry, how it makes people feel when it does, and what we can do try and right the ship.

BTC #2 – The Path to Happiness

BillThis week I have a talk with my friend Bill discussing whether or not there really exists a “one true path to happiness”.  I discuss my four part theory which includes walking a true and moral path, being confident and loving yourself at your core, giving to others without want of return, and keeping a positive outlook.

BTC #1 – How you doin’?

Welcome to “Breaking the Chains”, the show where we use hot topics, with amazing people, to focus on overcoming adversity and maximizing our life’s experience.  This first episode is more or less an introduction to the show and to myself… kind of a “get to know you session”.  I’ll go over what you can expect from this podcast, give examples of the types of things we will be discussing, and play a couple clips from upcoming shows.  I’ll also introduce myself, Ty Whitman, and describe what I think I can bring to the show.
